Is Dmitry Bivol's ex-wife right to call him a coward, or is there more to the story?

Did the fame and fortune Dmitry Bivol received after the Canelo Alvarez win in 2022 change him as a person? Well, Bivol’s ex-wife Ekaterina, who separated from the fighter just a year after the Canelo Alvarez bout, not too long ago, accused him of acting like the “devil” once he got the taste of “power” and “money”. Safe to say, after sixteen years of blissful union, the relationship had a bitter ending with Ekaterina Bivol unveiling a fresh batch of accusations each day against Dmitry Bivol.

In a recent spate of attacks she posted on her Instagram stories, Ekaterina hinted that Dmitry Bivol was running away from his responsibility as a father. “Married – Take responsibility Divorced- Be responsible Parent – Bear responsibility,” she wrote in the caption as she shared pictures of her wedding images. Continuing her verbal onslaught, she labeled Bivol as a “weak” person who doesn’t keep his word. “Did not think that day I was marrying a weak person. Now I see and know he is a coward that doesn’t keep his word, that he is weak,” she further stated.

Additionally, she revealed that she is seeking “justice” in court for whatever transpired between them. “No, I don’t want back. I want justice. You always told me there is no justice in the world. But you’re wrong. I will fight for fair judgment in court,” she said. However, the Russian fighter’s ex-wife didn’t go into the specifics of the court case she would be filing.

If that wasn’t enough, she also accused Dmitry Bivol of “stealing and cheating” while they were in a relationship. However, Ekaterina has made it clear that she doesn’t hold any “resentment” towards the Russian fighter as the ordeal transformed her into a “fighter” too. “After all of the stealing and cheating, you probably think that I hold resentment for you. But uh-uh, no, you’re wrong…..Makes me that much stronger, makes me work a little bit harder, makes me that much wiser. So thanks for making me a fighter, ” she further wrote in another caption in a separate image.

Things between Dmitry Bivol and his ex-wife started to take an ugly turn after she posted a series of photos that were a damning indictment on Dmitry Bivol.

Accusations of domestic violence?

Since the couple announced their divorce to the public, they did not allude to any specific reason for their separation. But, then, certain disturbing pictures were posted by Ekaterina in a series of Instagram stories alleging that Bivol and her mother subjected her to psychological and physical abuse. “And then you sat there and told my dad that I hit myself,” Ekaterina wrote, describing the gravity of the situation. She further alleged that her father prevented her from reporting the incident of domestic abuse to the police.

Earlier, Ekaterina had also told the media that she had been to a psychologist a few months before the breakup and dealt with bouts of loneliness as Dmitry Bivol was absent from her life for long periods. “I’m not sad without Dima. What should I get used to? I have always been alone for at least six months, and over the past year we have not seen each other for 10 months. I am very used to loneliness. I feel sad at times, but I thought it would be worse. Turns out I’m much stronger than I thought. Surprised by myself,” Insidesport quoted her as saying.

Meanwhile, Dmitry Bivol is still remaining tight-lipped about the situation even though accusations are coming thick and fast in his direction. Moreover, the allegations are surfacing at a time when he is preparing for the most important fight of his career—the undisputed light-heavyweight clash against Artur Beterbiev on October 12.

However, it is important to point out that the serious allegations of domestic abuse made against Dmitry Bivol are yet to be proven in a court of law. Nevertheless, it is high time Bivol clears the air on these claims.
