The upcoming boxing bout between ex-UFC star, Ben Askren, and Internet personality, Jake Paul, has already seen much drama in its build-up. However, it’s not over yet as the duo continue to tout their prowess on social media, intensifying their clash on April 17 on Triller.
After getting physical with each other in their recent face-off, Ben Askren has once again vowed to beat ‘The Problem Child’. This time he has added a cinematic twist in the tale by trying to replicate Rocky Balboa.
Idolising Sylvester Stallone’s iconic character, ‘Funky’ posted a video of his training, which was nowhere close to an orthodox boxing drill. In the 2:49 minutes long clip, Askren was spotted doing multiple tasks. He lifted a log on snowy mountains, axed down trees, and skipped, before showcasing his power on a heavy bag.

Amid all the activities, his wife and kid constantly accompanied him. In the caption, Askren wrote, “When I got the call to fight Logan Paul’s little brother I had to go into Rocky Style training!”

However, all these super stunts can still fall short inside the ring. Though Ben Askren has all the fighting accolades under his name and is way a more reputed combatant than Jake Paul, his striking skills aren’t that talked about and this could be his downfall.
Paul, 2-0 as a pro, has also trained with Jorge Masvidal, the first man to defeat Ben Askren at a professional MMA match. So, ‘The Problem Child’ might appear to have some significant advantages on his corner.

The matchup is a by-product of Jake Paul’s enthusiastic challenges to professional fighters. However, it can still be an intriguing contest. Paul hasn’t faced a single professional fighter in his 2-fight old pro-career. So, Ben Askren could be his gateway to face the bigger names in the future.
‘Funky’ Askren is an elite MMA fighter, with world championships at ONE and Bellator, under his belt. So, his boxing debut will be another addition to that. Being a pro fighter, he has all the chances to win and several fight fans are backing him to claim the win. That said, it will also be a tremendous opportunity for ‘Funky’ to grab the spotlight.
