The Garcia family has had a tumultuous year. Starting with the boxing sensation of the clan – Ryan Garcia still has to spend eight months away from the ring due to the one-year suspension served up by the New York State Athletic Commission in June. If that wasn’t enough, ‘King Ry’ was expelled by the WBC for his racist and Islamophobic rant on an X livestream. The misery piled on as Ryan Garcia’s wife Andrea Celina was forced to take a restraining order after the Victorville native broke into her house and threatened her. Garcia’s actions following his suspension from professional boxing sparked concerns about his mental health among his family members.

To make matters worse, this year, ‘King Ry’s’ mother Lisa Garcia was diagnosed with breast cancer. As expected, Ryan didn’t take the news well as he vowed to commit suicide if his mother died. Now, Lisa’s recent Instagram post will make you believe that she is more concerned about her family than her ailing health during such trying times.

Ryan Garcia’s mother shared a post on Instagram where Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie was talking about what she prioritized most in life. ” I want my kids to be healthy. And I want to have a great family,” she told the interviewer. She further emphasized that making more money or being more successful doesn’t take precedence over the well-being of her family members. “Everything else can go away. Everything can be taken from us but our family. It’s what we live for, what we love,” Jolie said in a melancholic tone.

Lisa’s motherly instinct kicked in as she related hard with Jolie’s heartfelt take on the importance of family. On Instagram, Lisa’s caption accompanying the post read, “This is why my hear breaks because I ditto these sentiments”.

Following Garcia’s racist and Islamophobic rants that landed him in trouble, Garcia’s parents extended their support to their son while distancing themselves from his statements that didn’t align with “his true character or beliefs”.

“Ryan has been open about his ongoing struggle with mental health over the years. As a family, we remain committed to encouraging and ensuring he receives the necessary help to navigate this very challenging time and address both his immediate and long-term well-being. We deeply appreciate the continued support, prayers and compassion you have towards our family during these hard times,” the statement issued by Garcia’s parents read.

Ryan Garcia still hasn’t checked himself into rehab even though he promised he would. He was last seen in Japan attending the SUPER RIZIN.3 event, attempting to generate interest for the potential bout with Manny Pacquiao in December. On the other hand, Lisa Garcia has left it up to God to decide her fate as she battles breast cancer.

It seems Garcia’s mother has made peace with her breast cancer diagnosis. In an earlier post on Instagram uploaded in June, she expressed gratitude for receiving a “care package” from ‘Kaiser Permanente’, a leading healthcare consortium. Moreover, she reinforced her faith in God to help her navigate through such a difficult period in her life.

“Just want to say that my Father in whom I trust with my physical life and my spiritual life has me in his hands – I feel good and praise Him and wish I could hug him because he is so awesome! Im at peace I really am and I do not have fear,” she wrote in her Instagram post.
