Evander Holyfield Sums Up Everyone’s Emotion in Two Words as Sylvester Stallone Celebrates 41-Year Anniversary of ‘Rocky III’

It would be safe to say that Sylvester Stallone deserves credit for bringing a shift in Hollywood with his action-packed movies. His billion-dollar film franchise, ‘Rocky’, played a huge part in not only promoting action movies but also the sport of boxing. It has been close to 50 years now that Rocky movies have been entertaining audiences globally. 

Recently, Sly, took to Instagram to commemorate the 41st anniversary of the iconic Rocky III. He shared a nostalgic post featuring pictures with the cast, reminding fans of the film’s enduring legacy. Following suit, a close friend of Stallone’s and boxing legend Evander Holyfield took to Instagram to reminisce about the good old days. 

Evander Holyfield Walks Down Memory Lane  

The classic film that sees the titular character take on Clubber Lang, a character superbly portrayed by Mr. T, was released in the US on May 28 in 1982. To commemorate the occasion of its anniversary, Stallone took to Instagram and shared the never-before-seen photos with the cast. In the captions, he wrote, “41 years ago today we stepped into the ring with Rocky III. I am so grateful for every punch, every victory, an incredible cast and the endless support from fans who keep the Rocky spirit alive. Keep punching.”

Following this, Holyfield expressed his feelings and commented on the post, “Great memories.” Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky franchise isn’t just admired by boxing fans, it’s revered. The films shaped an era, influencing countless fans who still hold them in high regard to this day.

Despite not appearing in Rocky III, heavyweight legend Evander Holyfield recognizes the film’s enduring connection between boxing and cinema. And although Holyfield did not appear in the Rocky films, he was a part of another project that starred Stallone as the lead. 

When Evander Holyfield and Sylvester Stallone Starred in a Movie Together 

Back in 2013, Oscar winners Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro collaborated starring opposite each other in the movie “Grudge Match”. This comedic film centers around two former boxing rivals who, after thirty years, decide to bury the hatchet and step back into the ring for one last showdown. While the story focuses on their journey, four-time heavyweight champion, Evander Holyfield makes a memorable cameo to give the boxing scene in the movie an element of reality. 

Furthermore, who better than Holyfield would know about a resentful grudge match? People still get chills remembering his hard-fought two matches against Mike Tyson where Tyson bit off Holyfield’s ear resulting in his disqualification.
