Evander Holyfield is that one name that boxing history will always host in its golden pages. The era of the fighter is often referred to when someone iterates the greats in the boxing realm. In a conversation with Versus 101, ‘The Warrior’ Holyfield spilled the beans about that one fighter who has impressed him. The fighter himself remains that one name that most new-age fighters look up to. But who is his favorite? Well, it is the infamous ‘Pac-Man’, Manny Pacquiao. Talking about why the Filipino fighter has made such a profound impression on him, Warrior said, “I like Pacquiao, he’s my favourite. You know, he’s humble., He do what he believes is right.”

Pac-Man has never fought Warrior but the latter has definitely been a stakeholder in one of his fights. When Conor McGregor was prepping to fight against Pac-Man, Holyfield remained on the side of McGregor. But now as he recounts his active days in the ring, he remains an admirer of Pacquiao. Putting Pac-Man in comparison with Floyd Mayweather, Holyfield says, “It’s amazing, there’s some situation I’ve to think about – when he fought [Floyd] Mayweather, you ever seen someone throw more punches than Pacquiao?”

Furthering his analysis of the infamous fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao, the fighter said, “If anyone was counting punches, them numbers don’t add up, right. The point of the matter if [Mayweather] got good defence, good, but don’t say he throws more punches. Because Pacquiao is the most busy figure in the world, he like that [Duracell bunny], he always throwing punches.”

It was reported that the winner of the two, Mayweather recorded 435 punches while Pacquiao landed a close 429 shots at his opponent.

Mayweather Seconds Holyfeild’s Choice

There has always remained a certain comparison between ‘Pretty Boy’ Mayweather and his formidable opponent, Manny Pacquiao. The iconic 2015 fight between the two hall-of-famers saw the collision of acumens that boxing history stands proud of. However, it is a sign of a legendary fighter who identifies the prowess of his opponent. And that is what Pretty Boy did.

A while ago, the fighter revealed Pac-man was the best fighter he had ever encountered. On the “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast, Pretty Boy explained his revelation to rapper Gillie Da King. He said, “It’s because of his movement. He’s a hell of a fighter and I can see why he won so many fights and I can see why he’s going down as a Hall of Famer. It’s just certain moves that he makes.”
