While appearing in the interview, the reporter questioned Holyfield about who he thinks is the face of boxing. Struggling to recollect the name, Holyfield thought for a moment. He then went on to suggest the name of Terence Crawford. Holyfield crowned Crawford as the best while complimenting his abilities. “Crawford got boxing ability. He got more than one way to win, his power,” said Holyfield.

He went on to emphasize that adaptability in the face of adversity brings out the true champion. “When people have to make adjustments, then that kinda shows you that…because it shows you how to make adjustments,” Holyfield told the interviewer while praising Crawford’s adaptability inside the ring.

While Holyfield skipped Canelo and Davis to choose Crawford, if the Crawford vs. Canelo fight ever does happen, boxing will for sure have a new face. Even with praise from one of the greatest ever, Crawford is currently having a tough time, with respect to him keeping his IBF title.

The undefeated ‘Bud’ Crawford went toe to toe with Errol Spence Jr. back in July this year. While both fighters entered the ring undefeated, Spence did not make it out with his perfect record intact. The fight has not yet been confirmed but is expected to unfold sometime early next year. Despite winning the fight, even Crawford did not make it out unscathed, as the IBF recently stripped Crawford’s title because of his rematch with Spence. See, the thing is, the IBF had announced a mandatory fight for ‘Bud’ against Jaron “Boots” Ennis, but because of the rematch, he won’t be able to fight the mandatory challenger. Thus, the IBF decided to strip Crawford of his IBF welterweight championship and hand it over to Boots.
