Evander Holyfield definitely knows what it’s like to have a piece of his ear missing. But he didn’t see this one coming: a bizarre comparison with Donald Trump’s recent assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania. Ryan Garcia, who’s been a big Trump supporter for a while, jumped on X and pointed out some eerie similarities between Trump’s close call and Holyfield’s infamous bite-fight incident.

The 45th President of the United States was a victim of an assassination attempt while giving a speech at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday. Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, shot a part of Trump’s ear off and was later neutralized by Secret Service agents. While no motives have been discovered yet, Trump has since been on the recovery. Trump even made an appearance at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

On the other hand, Evander Holyfield’s bite fight incident took place back in June 1997 when Mike Tyson and Holyfield came face to face for the second time. Holyfield had already won their first fight and was dominating Tyson in the rematch. It frustrated ‘Iron’ Mike, who shockingly bit a piece of his rival’s ear off in the third round of their fight. Hence, the fight got etched in history as the ‘Bite Fight’. Decades have passed since then and the duo have hashed their differences.

But it seems Ryan Garcia remembers the fight quite well—as the Victorville native hopped on X to recall it in detail. “Damn part of Donald trumps ear got blown off Has me thinking of Evander Holyfield ear Donald trump is winning this, and becoming the next president Remember evander won that fight Donald trump is winning this one,” he noted hopefully.

Then, in a later tweet, Ryan Garcia even named the duo, “Donald Holyfield”. This was picked up by Clocked n’ Loaded on Instagram today, which Garcia even reposted on his Instagram Story, asking his fans “Am I right?” While most fans found the light-hearted joke amusing, Holyfield found himself with a lack of words upon discovering the post. All he could seemingly muster to describe his thoughts was a wide-eyed emoji.

With that out of the way, have you wondered what led to Mike Tyson’s unprecedented move in the ring with Holyfield?

Mike Tyson revealed why he bit off Evander Holyfield’s ear!

Everything began with their first fight, arguably one of the biggest fights at the time. The pair originally locked horns back in 1996 when Mike Tyson vehemently complained about Holyfield head-butting him throughout the fight, but his plea went unheard. It supposedly led to Tyson losing the first fight via an 11th-round knockout. So, ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ came back for the rematch with a plan.

Right after the first headbutt from Holyfield, it was game on for Tyson. Frustrated with referee Mills Lane, who often gave Holyfield the benefit of the doubt, Tyson took the first bite. In his book ‘The Undisputed Truth’, Tyson wrote, “I just wanted to kill him. Anybody watching could see that the headbutts were so overt. I was furious. I was an undisciplined soldier, and I lost my composure. So I bit him in the ear”.

But hold up! The fight was allowed to continue as the ringside physician suggested Holyfield was fit to fight despite the bleeding. In the chaos, no one noticed that Tyson came into the third round without a mouthguard—he knew what he was going to do.

Mike Tyson chomped at Evander Holyfield’s ear one more time, which was the last straw, as Tyson was disqualified. “People were pulling me and blocking me. [Holyfield] was standing in his corner, huddled up. I was still trying to get at him. I had fifty people on me, and I was still fighting the cops,” Tyson wrote.

While both Donald Trump and Evander Holyfield have part of their ear damaged, it’s a reminder of the most horrific things that have happened to them—something Ryan Garcia has permanently left his comments on. What do you think?
