“ESPN Must Be Giving Up on Boxing”: Max Kellerman Among 20-High Profile Commentators Laid off by ESPN, Stunned Fans Jump in to Support Their Favorite On-Air Star

Max Kellerman, among about 20 others, has been laid off by ESPN, sadly, as expected. Notable names affected include Jeff Van Gundy, Jalen Rose, Suzy Kolber, and Todd McShay. Kellerman, with experience at ESPN and FOX Sports, covered various sports but gained recognition in boxing. He was considered “one of us” by boxing enthusiasts, having held prestigious positions at HBO and ESPN, delivering boxing coverage. Despite it not being his primary role at ESPN anymore, he continued hosting Max on Boxing.

He interviewed a lot of young boxing stars like, Devin Haney, Terence Crawford, and Shakur Stevenson. Moreover, his morning radio show was recently canceled, and ESPN signing Pat McAfee hinted at the likely end of his afternoon series, “This Just In with Max Kellerman.” While Kellerman’s focus expanded beyond boxing, he remains a trusted and well-liked figure. Fans would be thrilled to see him join DAZN or Showtime. It’d be a great addition to their team of reporters as well. Although recently DAZN committed a blunder too.

This move of EPSN goes hand in hand with their recent action of downsizing their workforce in order to increase their profits. Recently, Pat McAfee received a lot of backlash because of employees getting laid off. As the unfortunate news was shared by Bad Left Hook on Facebook, fans were quick to jump in to support Kellerman.

Fans provide Max Kellerman with options

Fans immediately took to social media to express their support for Kellerman and discuss potential new opportunities for him. Rick Schoen wrote, “ESPN must be giving up on boxing!?“. Another fan, Jose Diego Martinez stated that he will not have trouble landing a new job commentating on boxing.

He further complimented Kellerman and called him “life line for boxing on ESPN“. Meanwhile, Joe Lefty pointed out that, “he wasn’t really in the boxing part of ESPN anyway.” He pointed out further future paths for Kellerman, “He can go to DAZN or something. He can even start his own YouTube channel.”

However, Eddie Gonzalez was shocked. He called Kellerman “one of the best boxing analysts in the game“. Moreover, Edgrr Dominguez wrote, “I think he’s the best boxing commentator in the game. that’s crazy.”

A fan named Eddie Ramos was confounded. He praised Kellerman on his “extensive knowledge of boxing” and hailed him as “a historian” who “loves the sport“.
