Just when the fans thought everything was coming around, Errol Spence Jr. has now dropped another bombshell about his upcoming fight with Sebastian Fundora. The fight has been in the works for nearly a year, and yesterday, the fans got a glimmer of hope when boxing writer Dan Rafael suggested that both parties had been almost locked in the fight for March 29th at the MGM Garden in Las Vegas.
However, the celebration was short-lived as Spence shattered the rumors while giving another update about the fight. This is the second time that the rumors regarding the fight have turned out to be false and it has been a frustrating ride for the fans.

While the Long Island native did not give any further update, ”@TheBoxingPro’claims to know the date. The account quoted the screenshot and wrote, “We all know that fight happening at Jerry’s world in Texas 🤠 ‼️🔥.” The user further claimed that the fight will happen in April, but it looks like no one knows anything when it comes to this bout.
Earlier reports suggested that the fight will take place on Premier Boxing Champions’ pay-per-view slots on Amazon Prime Video. Even that turned out to be false and now Spence has denied another rumor. It has intrigued every fan as they want to know what is actually happening behind the scenes.
A fight that may never happen
The rivalry started in March last year when Sebastian Fundora created a major upset by defeating Tim Tszyu to claim the WBC and WBO super welterweight titles. Errol Spence Jr. didn’t miss the opportunity and laid down the challenge to an astounding reception by the fans. Everyone was excited about this fight and wanted it to happen.

However, it has been nearly a year and we haven’t seen any progress in the fight negotiations. Errol Spence Jr. last fought in July 2023 and suffered a humiliating loss to Terence Crawford. On the other hand, Sebastian Fundora has not defended his title even once since acquiring it in March, another champion under the PBC banner who can’t find dates.
Boxing insider Rick Glaser took to his ‘X’ and claimed that “It’ll be almost a miracle status if this fight ever happens.” The miracle almost happened yesterday, but with Spence’s new update, it looks like Glaser was right all along.
With each passing day and delay, the anticipation of the fans is turning into frustration. If it continues like this, it won’t be long before they stop caring about this fight altogether. The PBC needs to finalize a date for these two as soon as possible or Fundora should move on to another challenger. After all, in March, it will be a year for him without defending the titles even once.
