Errol Spence Jr’s Coach Receives Its Largest Single Donation Ever of $100,000 for His Family Foundation

Errol Spence Jr., Ryan Garcia, and Jermell Charlo‘s trainer, Derrick James, closed 2023 on a high note. A prestigious foundation in the country donated $100,000 to his non-profit organization, marking its largest single donation ever.

Founded in 2023, the Derrick James Family Foundation is the trainer’s effort to give back to the North Texas community in which he grew up. By raising funds, the organization has undertaken various initiatives for education, mental health support, and the donation of essential supplies. The organization had set an ambitious goal to raise $5000 in 2023 to meet its causes. However, in a promising development, they raised much more than that.

It’s a happy new year for Derrick James

Still in its nascent stage, the organization found recognition in the massive donation from The Sarah & Ross Perot, Jr., Foundation last night. On its Instagram page, James’ foundation posted a press release announcing that it had received its biggest single donation of a staggering $100,000. The release read, “The Derrick James Family Foundation is excited to announce a significant donation recently received. The Sarah and Ross Perot, Jr., Foundation has generously contributed an impressive amount of $100,000 as the year 2023 comes to a close. This notable gift represents the largest single donation ever received by the foundation.” 

It further thanked the organization founded by Henry Ross Perot, Jr., real estate developer and Chairman of Perot Systems Corporation and the son of former U.S. Presidential candidate Henry Ross Perot. James’ foundation wrote, “Deepest appreciation is extended to the Sarah and Ross Perot, Jr., Foundation for their belief in the Derrick James Family Foundation’s work and their significant investment in its cause.”

Laying the premise for the new year, the organization in their captions explained, “This significant gift will empower us to make an even greater impact in our community and bring about positive change. We are deeply grateful for their belief in our mission and their support. Together, we are transforming lives and creating a brighter future.”

Just in its first year of establishment, the Derrick James Family Foundation has been instrumental in alleviating the community’s suffering. Not long ago, it organized the North Texas Giving Day. In light of its success, the trainer on his Instagram wrote, “Your support will help make a positive impact on our work in the community!” In December, in a one-of-a-kind initiative, it helped patients in hospitals who were unable to meet their medical bills.

The Christmas Spirit of Derrick James

“We understand that spending the holidays in a hospital bed can be incredibly challenging for young patients and their families,” wrote the trainer’s organization as it explained its recent initiative. To help in-patients at the Children’s Health Medical Center-Dallas, it joined hands with the hospital’s family program. They identified in-patient families who needed support and started the “Adopt a Family” initiative.
