The whole world held its breath as the two top heavyweights Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder went at each other for the first time in 2018, and the fight ended in a split draw. The fight is remembered for the historic moment when Fury was knocked down by Wilder only to rise once again, shocking boxing fans and even Wilder. Their rivalry has been ongoing since then. The duo then face each other a second time for a rematch, this time it was Fury who stopped Wilder in the seventh round by TKO. Fury and Wilder then had a fight in 2021 which also ended with Fury handing a defeat to Wilder.
In a recent tweet, boxing promoter, Michael Benson shared Wilder’s most recent statement on Fury. Deontay Wilder revealed his continued disdain towards Tyson Fury. Despite seemingly exchanging pleasantries with Fury at the Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury fight in Saudi Arabia last month, Wilder still believes that Fury is a cheater. He had this to say, “I can’t stand that motherf*er. They know what’s up, he’s a cheater. But [Saudi Arabia] is a peaceful ground. There’s a time and a place”.
Wilder had previously accused Fury of cheating. He had claimed that Fury had loaded his gloves, and Fury had denied these accusations. The general consensus was that Wilder and Fury had finally put their difference aside in Saudi Arabia. But his most recent statement has left fans stunned, including boxing legend Errol Spence Jr. If he wants another shot at Fury he needs to defeat Andy Ruiz Jr who recently called out Fury for a fight too which caused a lot of backlash from fans as well.
