Gervonta Davis defeated Ryan Garcia in the seventh round of their contest. The boxing world finally got to witness the two combatants square off against each other. Many fans and notable personalities of the sport were heavily interested in this bout, including the likes of Errol Spence Jr.

Spence Jr. is one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in the world and is the unified welterweight champion. He had put up a wager against Garcia as he betted his money on Davis; which turned out to be highly lucrative for him. Recently, he took to Instagram demanding the money he won from the person he waged with on his Instagram story.

How much did Errol Spence Jr. earn in his wager?

A few days before the bout, Spence Jr. took to Twitter to make his wager on “Tank” Davis public; which took the internet by storm. In his Tweet, “The Truth” stated, I got 20k on the tank.” He made this wager with Jermall Charlo, the current WBC middleweight champion. He had waged $10,000 of his own on Garcia. Unfortunately for him, Garcia was handed his first-ever defeat in the seventh round of the contest, which meant that the welterweight champion earned $30,000 after betting $10,000. Post the bout, the fighter took to Instagram to publicly ask Charlo to pay him.

He posted a picture of himself and Charlo in the arena after the fight on his Instagram story with the caption, “I need my shmoney”. It appears that now the middleweight champion would have to give away $20,000 as Spence Jr. will not let him slide away with it.

The reason behind Jermall Charlo betting his money on Ryan Garcia

Garcia was the underdog going into the bout and that motivated Charlo to bet his money on the underdog. As per Proboxtv.com, the middleweight champion stated, “I just like the underdog…it has nothing to do with personally with Ryan or [with] you know race or black, I don’t care about none of that. I just like the underdog, I think [it] is Ryan’s chance to do what he got to do, but I do I think he’ll beat Tank ‘No’, but who am I going for ‘Ryan!’”

It is intriguing that Charlo went against his instinct and betted his money on Garcia as he wanted to support the underdog. Will the boxer stick to his word and pay Spence Jr. only time will tell.
