The Tim TszyuKeith Thurman bout headlines the March 30 fight card at the T Mobile Arena. However, it is the Rolando Romero and Isaac Cruz bout that seems to have caught everyone’s attention. Bookmakers must be getting ready to back up their favorites. However, as it appears, even some of the well-known names in boxing are eager not to miss out on a potentially lucrative opportunity.

Isaac Cruz, announcing a move to the 140-pound division, is challenging ‘Rollie’ for the latter’s WBA title. Both boxers come with a different set of styles to make an exciting fight. To most oddsmakers, the past record seems to assure a certain tilt toward a particular boxer. Nevertheless, some well-known figures also seem confident about the eventual outcome of the bout.

50 on Pitbull,” wrote Errol Spence Jr. a few hours ago. The former unified welterweight champion has yet to announce a return to the ring. He last fought Terence Crawford on July 29 at the T Mobile, the same venue, where ‘Pitbull’ and ‘Rollie’ will clash in another month’s time. Nevertheless, he continues to stay informed about the latest happenings in the sport. Perhaps that’s why he seemed so clear on his pick of the winner between Isaac Cruz and Rolando Romero. Not forgetting the amount he’s willing to wager.

Clearly, that left a whole lot of followers confused. One asked, “$50,000, $50.00, or $0.50?” Then another stated matter-of-factly, “K or 50 dollars, champ? You gotta be specific.

Errol Spence Jr. quickly came back and said, “K.” Not surprisingly, this response also set off a string of comments, with a few checking him out on retirement as well as his return.

Rolando Romero, after the 2022 loss to Gervonta Davis (now Abdul Wahid), subsequently moved up a division the following year. He defeated Ismael Barroso on May 13 to become the WBA light welterweight champion. It seems like ‘Tank’ remains a common link between him and ‘Pitbull’. The WBA lightweight champion had defeated Cruz a year before he knocked out Romero. The only difference is that Cruz remains the only second boxer who fought ‘Tank’ till the twelfth round.

It is precisely this quality—the ability to tenaciously engage in a fight—that seems to stand out to many bookmakers. However, it also doesn’t look like a margin that’s too wide in favor of Isaac Cruz. With nearly 87% of wins coming by way of knockouts, ‘Rollie’ for sure packs a punch. An early stoppage could see him defending his title successfully. But then one has to take into cognizance of the fact that, against 16 career fights, Cruz has thus far been into 28 bouts, thus giving him an extended experience.
