“My goal right now is to you know be undisputed at 147 so I’m going try you know collect the rest of the belt and then move up to 54 and do the same thing,” Jarron Ennis declared triumphantly. It will be a warm homecoming for Jaron “Boots” Ennis in Philadelphia as he defends his IBF welterweight title against David Avanesyan. Jaron became the “email champion” last year after Crawford vacated the IBF title and jumped up to 154. Boots was initially scheduled to face Cody Crowley on July 13, but fluid accumulation in the latter’s eye meant that he had to be replaced. But the show must go on! The undefeated fighter was replaced by a man who challenged Terence Crawford for his welterweight title but failed. The 35-year-old boxer has four losses in his boxing record and has only fought once since his Crawford fight, securing a KO win against a lackluster opponent. Meanwhile, Although Ennis’ top challengers, Spence Jr and Crawford, have jumped up a weight class, he will follow them once he becomes undisputed at 147. On paper, Avanesyan shouldn’t pose much of a threat, but you never know in boxing, one punch can change the trajectory of the game!
Meanwhile, on the undercard of the main event is another title fight between Skye Nicolson and Dyana Vargas. Nicolson will be defending her WBC featherweight title against Vargas. But the ultimate goal in her mind is to bag a fight with unified featherweight world champion Amanda Serrano. However, she has put her undisputed dream on hold for now, as she will first have to go up against a more experienced and aggressive Dominican fighter with a record of 19-1 with 12 KOs. Safe to say, both fights won’t be a cakewalk for the defending champions. So before the fight, let’s look back at the music, the above champions and their opponents have used for their ring walks.

Jarron will walk out to something spectacular when he fights in front of his home crowd. The undefeated fighter with 28 knockouts in thirty-one fights will definitely try to go for the kill and give the fans their money’s worth. In his fight against Thomas Dulorme, he chose a song named “Juice”, in which he lent his vocals alongside artist Nilo. Riding on the high of the upbeat hip-hop track, he secured a KO win over Dulorme in the first round.

Meanwhile, against Roiman Villa, he came out to the powerful worship song “Goodness of God” by CeCe Winans. Nothing like a blessing from the divine spirit to carry you through the difficult journey of a boxing fight. And Ennis did prevail on that night as well.
On the other hand, the Russian native, Avanesyan tries to stay true to his roots. In his fight against Terence Crawford, he made his ringwalk to a song composed by Armenian composer Ara Gevorgyan. It was quite unfortunate that he was knocked out by the 2-division undisputed champion. However, walkout songs used by him in other fights are not available in the public domain.
