Despite retaining his undefeated record and the WBC lightweight belt, Devin Haney has been rammed with several criticisms after his recent win over Yuriorkis Gamboa. ‘Dream’ couldn’t take out his opponent and had to go to the distance to claim the victory.
He outpointed Gamboa throughout the fight and landed some big shots. However, his fellow world champions and boxing fans are not impressed with it. Haney’s most dominant contemporary, Teofimo Lopez, is one of them as he recently turned to Twitter and mocked the WBC champion.

Still fresh from his win against Vasyl Lomachenko, Lopez has already called out almost half of the entire lightweight division. As Haney has a belt, he is one of his prime targets. Thus, he was mapping the ‘Dream’ tonight, but it seems like the ‘Take Over’ isn’t impressed yet. Instead, he has found a reason to ridicule Devin Haney on social media.

While Devin Haney is probably enjoying his win, his possible future adversary Teofimo Lopez is leaving no chance to belittle him. He recently tweeted a picture of Haney and wrote, “Email Champion performance!”
That said, Lopez’s latest win against Lomachenko was of a similar fashion. Although he outpointed ‘The Matrix’, he couldn’t finish him off. It was one of the biggest close-calls of this year and Lomachenko had his share of glory in the fight.

Devin Haney vs Yuriorkis Gamboa went in the same manner as none of the boxers landed much fire. While Gamboa danced inside the ring for all the 12 rounds, it wasn’t enough to bag the win. He was tired by the end of the fight after having taken Haney’s best shots throughout.

It might not make sense for Lopez to undervalue Haney’s efforts. However, the motivation behind the same can be understood as they are touted to go against each other shortly. If it does take place, it will be an epic lightweight thriller of the modern era. Until then, the undefeated world champions will seemingly continue their war of words on social media and other platforms.
