IBF super-middleweight champion Caleb Plant registered his 21 pro victory and third successful title defense by vanquishing Caleb Truax in their headlining clash on January 30. Although it was a lopsided win for him, ‘Sweethands’ couldn’t intimidate many of his divisional rivals.
Edgar Berlanga, 23, is currently 16-0 in the pro circuit and is swiftly climbing the ladder to the top of the super middleweight division. ‘The Chosen One’ has now called out Caleb Plant, and sent an alarming message to the IBF champion via social media.
That fight was cute, let me know when you ready to get kissed by these fist. 👹👹👹👹👹👹👹👹👹👹👹👹 @SweetHandsPlant

Following Plant’s win against Truax, Berlanga took to Twitter and wrote, “That fight was cute, let me know when you ready to get kissed by these fist.”
Riding a 16-fight win streak, Berlanga can rightfully demand a title shot at this stage, especially when the division is blooming with unbeaten champions. While Caleb Plant is one of the prime names, Berlanga is interested in dancing around the ring with him.
That said, Berlanga isn’t the only super-middleweight to have desired to fight Caleb Plant. David Benavidez Jr. has also challenged Plant and accused ‘Sweethands’ of ducking him. These challenges will ensure that Plant will not suffer from ring rust, as he has a plethora of rugged challengers to choose from ahead of a unification bout.

Being the IBF titleholder for over a year, he can also opt to unify the division by meeting the other champions- Canelo Alvarez and Billy Joe Saunders. But, if ‘The Chosen One’ Berlanga continues to rake in the wins, we can see him against Caleb Plant soon.
It will be a fight between two unbeaten super middleweight elites and Berlanga can pose some serious threat to Plant. However, nothing is official now, and the super-middleweight division needs to see some more fights before settling the bigger events.
