Brooklyn’s Edgar Berlanga is trying his best to capitalize on his newfound fame after losing to super middleweight king Canelo Alvarez last September in Las Vegas. However, his attempt to rile up the fans seems to have fallen face-first on social media. ‘The Chosen One’ talked a big game ahead of his fight against Canelo Alvarez.

However, when it was time to fight, the 27-year-old’s performance could not keep up with the trash talk he was spewing in the build-up for the fight. Canelo took apart the Puerto Rican boxer and left him with an embarrassing highlight reel. Now, the 27-year-old is back on X, sharing a training clip, which looked more like a sad attempt to scare his potential opponents.

Berlanga teases ‘Hit List’ but his moves steal the spotlight

Earlier today on X, Edgar Berlanga shared a shadowboxing clip from the ring. He ducked, weaved, and moved around, but the routine looked more like a dance sequence than a serious training session. To add to the intrigue, Berlanga teased a hit list, writing, “HIT LIST COMING 😌.”

One name that has been floated is ‘Interim’ WBA super middleweight champion Caleb Plant, who has expressed interest in fighting Berlanga. However, there’s no official word yet on who Berlanga will step into the ring with next. Reports from last month confirmed that he’s set to headline a March 8th card in Puerto Rico, though his opponent remains a mystery.

It’s widely expected that he won’t be facing a top-15 contender, but Berlanga has previously named several high-profile targets in his hit list, including Jaime Munguia, Jermall Charlo, Caleb Plant, Diego Pacheco, Hamzah Sheeraz, and, of course, a rematch with Canelo Alvarez.

As for his latest post, the boxing world took notice—but let’s just say the reactions may not have been what Berlanga was hoping for.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Edgar Berlanga's 'Hit List' just wishful thinking after his Canelo Alvarez debacle?

Fans have a field day with Berlanga’s video

People on the internet can be brutal, and Berlanga got the full brunt of all the mockery online. One user reminded Berlanga of his embarrassing performance against Canelo Alvarez. “This guy does so much talking so little fighting. Got knocked around by Canelo. What else [has] he done?” the user wrote. However, before fighting Canelo, Berlanga was looked at as a decent boxer, who knocked out his first 16 opponents.

Meanwhile, the next user mocked Berlanga by suggesting he was losing the shadowboxing session. “How u losing in shadowboxing,” the user asked. However, was it really shadowboxing or an exaggerated portrayal of it?

Another user mocked Berlanga for thinking it was a good idea to upload the clip. “😂😂😂 [I] can’t believe you recorded this and said, ‘Yeah, that’s it. I’m bout to post this s**t.’ 😂😂😂,” the user commented. Maybe Berlanga needs to hire a better PR person for his social media.

The next user brought up Berlanga’s knockdown from the Canelo Alvarez fight. “Don’t forget to practice sitting on the canvas & punching your gloves together 🔥,” the user commented. Notably, after being dropped by Canelo, a frustrated Berlanga clapped his gloves together in anger.

Someone else was confused about what Berlanga was doing in the clip. “Is that salsa, merengue? #wtf,” the user wrote. It was Berlanga’s attempt to hype up his fans with a show of his skills in the ring.

It’s safe to say that Berlanga’s shadowboxing clip was not well-received by the fans. It would be interesting to see who Edgar Berlanga decides to fight next. What did you think about the shadowboxing session?
