Both Hrgovic and Hunter rank high in the different sanctioning bodies. In addition, many experts have suggested that Hrgovic will be the next big thing in the heavyweight division. It now appears the two will fight, with the winner getting a shot at the ultimate prize.

He took to his Twitter account to break the news and wrote, “Eddie Hearn has stated that Filip Hrgovic vs Michael Hunter is heading for purse bids – scheduled for next Tuesday, April 6th. The fight is a final eliminator to determine the next mandatory for Anthony Joshua’s IBF heavyweight title.”

This tweet revealed many aspects that could affect the division. With the fight going for a purse bid, we may see Triller hijack the bid yet again. In addition, this report also revealed the significance of the bout for the division.

How will the Michael Hunter and Filip Hrgovic bout affect the Tyson Fur vs. Anthony Joshua event?

This report revealed that the two parties could not agree to a deal. Both Michael Hunter and Filip Hrgovic are contenders on the rise, and thus, it would have been difficult to agree on a deal. However, they will not have to fight for the highest bid. But what will the bout mean for the Fury-Joshua fight?

With the fight being the final eliminator, the winner of the Michael Hunter and Filip Hrgovic bout will become the mandatory for the IBF belt. However, by then, the heavyweight division will have an undisputed champion.

In addition, Joshua and Fury have a two-fight deal in place. So even though the winner of Hrgovic vs. Hunter will be mandatory, Fury and Joshua will have to pay them to step aside if they want to get the rematch.

This, and the Oleksandr Usyk situation, only increases the complication in the division. However, it looks likely that the two Fury-Joshua fights will take precedence over any other bouts.
