Jake Paul continues to attract attention for all the wrong reasons. It seems his old antics have caught up to him, as he had to deflect Eddie Hearn‘s lawsuit with an ingenious tactic. He has reversed the cards and is now counter-suing the British promoter for “using intimidation tactics.”
The tussle dates back to 2022 when Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor had fought a close contest with Taylor winning the bout. And Serrano, 36, lost the fight via a split decision. The result didn’t sit well with Paul, 27, who manages Serrano. At the time, in anger, he declared, “Clearly [Glenn Feldman] is getting paid money by Matchroom Boxing. It’s just so blatantly obvious and they’re not even trying to hide it.”
After these claims, Hearn, 45, went ahead with a $100 million lawsuit against Jake Paul for making “outrageously false and baseless allegations.” He also had previously asked the concerned parties to take down the interview. Paul, at 10-1, had applied to dismiss the suit, but that didn’t happen.

The Problem Child has now filed a counter-suit as per a TMZ report, under New York’s Anti-SLAPP laws. The suit has contested that the original lawsuit was an “intimidation tactic to chill Jake Paul’s freedom of speech.”
The counter-suit went on to claim how the defamation suit should be barred under the Anti-SLAPP laws, which are designed to protect people from being intimidated and silenced through costly and baseless legal proceedings. The suit reads, “The defamation claim is barred because the challenged statements were expressions of opinion, hyperbole, and/or humor.” In addition, ‘The Problem Child’ pleaded that his comments didn’t cause “actual harm or damage,” and dismissed such damages as “imaginary.”

While the pre-trial hasn’t started yet, it may affect Paul’s coming fight and disrupt his preparations. Not to mention the financial toll. But the Cleveland native seems confident of his fight at least.
Jake Paul wants to shock the world against Mike Tyson
In a conversation with TMZ Sports, Paul discussed his fight with Mike Tyson. The influencer-turned-boxer admitted ‘Iron Mike’ was taking the fight seriously and it might turn out to be a tough fight for him because of the unfamiliarity of the weight class. He said, “The moments of insecurity, especially moving up to heavyweight where [Mike Tyson] has the weight advantage and all of that. He’s insanely powerful and I know he’s taking it seriously.”

What’s more? Paul has also set his eyes on his opponent, Canelo Alvarez. There have been murmurs of the Mexican champion entertaining the fight with Paul because of the finances involved. However, it remains to be seen how that pans out and whether Paul’s legal troubles will affect his career decisions moving forward.
