Dillian Whyte can return to action by the end of this year in a massive event, but he may find a spot in the undercard. That’s what Matchroom Promoter Eddie Hearn seems to have planned for his top-tier heavyweight. While Hearn is currently working with the P4P King Canelo Alvarez for an undisputed 168 lbs fight, he has planned to put Whyte on the same event.

The British promoter spoke with IFL TV and addressed several scenarios circulating the boxing world. Meanwhile, Dillian Whyte’s current status is one issue that Hearn specially mentioned in the interaction.

“So, just seeing what’s happening with the Canelo Alvarez situation. There is some discussions about maybe Dillian [Whyte] fighting on that card as well along with those talks with PBC. I have also been talking to Louis De Cubas about a possible Arreola fight, a possible Charles Martin fight for Dillian Whyte as well,” said Eddie Hearn.

Following a massive KO win over Alexander Povetkin, Dillian Whyte became a mandatory title contender to Tyson Fury‘s world WBC strap. However, the championship turmoils in the division failed to bring a viable opponent for ‘The Body Snatcher’. Hence, Whyte will have to continue appearing in non-title fights to retain his mandatory status.

Losing his headlining spot might put a dent on Whyte’s current status. However, the undercard slot will be the only option left for Whyte if he chooses to appear on the same night.

The three-belt unified super middleweight champion, Alvarez, is right now aiming to stage a unification clash against IBF titlist Caleb Plant. The fight will possibly happen in August or September, and Eddie Hearn has claimed to have begun the official works. There’s no denying, Alvarez vs Plant will be an alluring headliner.
