It looks like the much-awaited clash between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn might not happen. After lengthy negotiations that spanned over months, Benn’s promoter, Eddie Hearn has suggested the fight might collapse within the next 48 hours as the fighter’s opponent, Eubank Jr. remains displeased with the money he’s being offered.

The pair were to clash in October last year. However, after Benn failed two drug tests, the fight fell through. After a long-standing back-and-forth appeal with the UK Anti-Doping on these reports, his provisional ban was lifted by the independent National Anti-Doping Panel. Post the development, calls for their impending clash started echoing. Almost a year post its fall, a date emerged. It was reported that the fighters would fight on February 3rd. However, as per Hearn, who has been an active participant in these negotiations, a 48-hour window remains that could either see the make or break of their fight.

In a conversation with Ariel Helwani, the ace promoter gave the latest update on what is going on with negotiations for the anticipated clash of the British fighters. While Benn remains keen on this fight, as per Hearn, Eubank expects much more than what is being offered to him, something the promoter can’t match. He said, “He’s got his number somehow from somebody, and we can’t hit that number.”

Furthermore, Hearn also suggested that the fight is merely 48 hours from being called off. Earlier, the British Boxing Board of Control had also expressed its disapproval of the February 3rd fight. Its general secretary took the call suggesting that while the appeal is in process, they cannot approve of the fight.

However, Hearn had clarified saying that it’s not the BBB0C that is hindering the fight, but Eubank’s purse split demands. He remarked, “We’re speaking to Eubank, and he’s the only problem making this fight. He thinks he’s in a strong position and wants as much money as he can.”

With Hearn hinting at the collapse of the Eubank-Benn fight, it seems like the fight might not go ahead as planned. What are the options that remain with Benn now?

Conor Benn’s appeal with BBBoC continues. Hence, it is safe to assume that Benn may not be fighting in the UK soon. However, that does not stop him from moving ahead in the sport. Despite the appeal, he undertook an Orlando fight against Rodolfo Orozco in September this year, winning it via UD. He was then expected to fight Eubank. But if the fight does not see the light of the day, Conor Benn has very few options.

Eddie Hearn had earlier hinted at a Kell Brook fight. However, he also added that Brook would not be ready for it by February. His next option? Devin Haney. Calling out Haney for a fight, Benn wrote, “Eubank’s lost his pen again so if you fancy Feb 3 at spurs @Realdevinhaney I’ll welcome you to the 147 division.”
