Anthony Joshua is all set to return to the ring this April. The Watford-born-boxer will face Jermaine Franklin at the O2 arena in London. While the stage is being set for Joshua’s home fight. The fans have many questions about the former champion’s future fights in the sport. Joshua lost his first bout against Oleksandr Usyk, which resulted in him being stripped of his titles. And he also lost his rematch with the Ukrainian, which can be considered one of the most significant upsets of his career. But, if there’s one thing the fans know about the 33-year-old, he is as relentless as possible. And not the one to give up easily.

Recently, Eddie Hearn, President of Matchroom, which is responsible for promoting the British boxer, gave the fans insights on the next potential opponents for Joshua after his fight against Franklin on April 1.

Five potential opponents of Anthony Joshua

In a YouTube video posted by DAZN, the streaming partner for Matchroom. British Promoter Eddie Hearn talked about the road ahead for Anthony Joshua and which boxers can be considered in line to fight the two-time former unified Heavyweight champion.

In the video, Hearn said, “I mean there’re so many fights for AJ to take care of.” He added, “Franklin first on April 1. Without victory there, the other four are irrelevant.” Further, Hearn named some prominent names in the Heavyweight division of the sport. “Dillian Whyte, Denotay Wilder, Tyson Fury, Joe Joyce, Filip Hrgovic.” Hearn has indicated a potential fight between Joshua and Fury. Even though the negotiations between the two did not come to fruition last time. 

The world will tune in on April 1 to see Joshua perform in the ring for the first time since his last fight against Usyk. This will be Joshua’s opportunity to send a strong message throughout the sport. And this will be the first stepping stone to Joshua’s rise to Heavyweight titles again. There is no doubt that Joshua is one of the best heavyweights in the world, and his boxing resume speaks for him.

Eddie Hearn is “Nervous” about Anthony Joshua

As Anthony Joshua steps into the ring on the night of April 1. His promoter Eddie Hearn has claimed that he is “nervous” about this fight. Hearn has been at Joshua’s corner since he turned professional in 2013. The two have witnessed monumental highs and extreme lows together. And share a good relationship.

In an interview with IFL TV, the promoter said, “I’m nervous because you look at Jermaine Franklin. He looks like a new man.” He added, “AJ’ must win this fight, and I believe he wins this fight, but I don’t think it’s going to be easy. All the pressure is on him in this fight, and that is nerve-racking.”

This will be Joshua’s first fight after two consecutive losses to Oleksandr Usyk. Hearn’s nervousness is just an indication of the immense pressure of this fight. It will be interesting to see who prevails on the night of April 1.
