Alvarez is on the verge of returning to the ring on February 27 against Avni Yildirim. However, it was recently that he had beaten Callum Smith and called for unification and undisputed title fights.

Speaking on the AK & Barak Show, which SiriusXM shared on Twitter, Hearn has now given an update on this. He first pointed out that Alvarez can beat Caleb Plant. However, the promoter said he would have to get past Billy Joe Saunders and Yildirim to make that fight happen.

Despite this, Hearn confirmed talks are already ongoing. “The Avni Yildirim deal which was done by a good friend of mine, Louis DeCubas at PBC, we’re already started talking about the Caleb Plant fight,” said Hearn.

Plant is fresh off a victory over Caleb Truax and refused to call out Canelo after the fight. However, he has shown his desire to become undisputed and beat Canelo. Therefore, it would be a relatively easy fight to make.

Eddie Hearn gives an update on the one thing affecting the Caleb Plant vs. Canelo Alvarez fight

The promoter is confident of the fight happening, provided all goes to plan. However, he is aware of the hiccups they could face. And the promoter addressed this too, saying the problem would be on which broadcaster would the fight take place.

“If Canelo Alvarez has to fight on FOX, or more likely, if the deal was extremely fruitful and that was the route, I’m sure he would be willing to do that. If we could make the fight on DAZN and Caleb Plant was happy, and PBC were happy and Louis DeCubas was happy, great,” said Hearn.

Despite this possible obstacle, this will come as good news to fans. For years the sport has been deprived of big fights like this because of the sanctioning bodies and the roles they play. However, it now looks like this fight could be possible.
