Of course, there will be only one winner. That’s what the test is all about. But then, who can stop the heart from racing? If only one could look into the future and learn the eventual winner. But nothing compares to the sublime thrill of hearing a pre-match prediction from a famous name. The happiness it brings when celebrities and insiders make mistakes. Probably that’s what many fans and followers would be watching out for Eddie Hearn.

The English promoter finally revealed his pick for Saturday’s magnum opus between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk. Incidentally, two of his boxers will be fighting on the undercard. The Matchroom honcho sounded skeptical. But he shared his two bits on the historical clash at Riyadh’s Kingdom Arena on May 18.

After 25 years of waiting, heavyweight boxing will finally welcome its first undisputed champion on Saturday. Lennox Lewis was the last heavyweight champion to wear the coveted title. There have been unified heavyweight champions but no undisputed title holder.

Both Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk ride on the backs of successful outings. It’s a different fact that both ended up raising only questions rather than providing any affirmation. Francis Ngannou shocked ‘The Gypsy King’ with a third-round knockout and then allowed a win only by a split margin. On the other hand, Oleksandr Usyk’s title defense from Daniel Dubois ran into controversy on account of the fifth-round hit from the Briton that was termed a low blow.

Speaking to a reporter from Matchroom’s YouTube channel, Eddie Hearn spilled it out: “I don’t know really,” when asked, “Next Saturday, fast approaching Ring of Fire, you put on your Twitter or X; it’s now called, you changed your thought process on the main event, your prediction.

Eddie Hearn: The King Will Become the Emperor

Calling the undisputed battle a ‘great fight’, he admitted to swinging back and forth most of the time whenever such posers appeared. Revealing that he would be flying out to check on charges Jai Opetaia, and Joe Cordina. “I can’t wait to get out to Riyadh, you know, for us obviously, Jai Opetaia and Joe Cordina defending their world titles, but who doesn’t want to see Fury-Usyk? I mean, it’s such an intriguing fight, and you know, one minute I see Usyk in training camp, and I just think I just he always finds a way, and then you see Fury in much better shape,” he said.

He then recounted instances where his opinions consistently differed when it came to Tyson Fury. He could never reconcile with thoughts of ‘The Gypsy King’ winning against Vladimir Klitschko. Likewise, he never believed that the Mancunian could defeat ‘The Bronze Bomber’. However, he seemingly had similar thoughts when it came to the Ukrainian champion as well.

For instance, he thought that Anthony Joshua would get the better of the 2012 London Olympic gold medalist. However, the way he foresees, “If Fury comes out like he did for Wilder two and he’s aggressive with smart pressure, I think he can stop him.

Eddie Hearn said that, for the time being, he would go along with these thoughts. However, once he reaches Riyadh, and is forced to go through the same poser, then, in all probability, his reply might be quite different from the one he gave. However, whatever is said and done, Matchroom Boxing’s head said, “I hope Fury can do it. I really want him to win that fight.
