The much-awaited heavyweight fight of this decade between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury was all set to take place this year. However, the ex-WBC heavyweight champ, Deontay Wilder, poured cold water on this matchup. He aligned himself with a trilogy against ‘The Gypsy King’.
This entire anecdote left both Joshua and Fury’s promoters, and the fans disheartened. Despite this fight falling through, ‘AJ’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, still has an optimistic sight on booking Joshua vs Fury for the undisputed title again.
In a recent conversation with Boxing Social, he said, “I think it would be easier for me to make the Tyson Fury fight. At least there are parts of his team that I can have cordial conversations with, and Tyson Fury himself. I’ve met him, I know him and then on the other side.”

He continued, “There’s two times we tried to make the undisputed fight, the first time [with Wilder], I can’t even tell you the silence. They wouldn’t even have a meeting with me to discuss it.” (h/t Boxing Scene)
Fury and Wilder are all set to face each other in a trilogy on July 24th. Citing that, Hearn asserted that Tyson Fury’s win would fill him with confidence to book an undisputed 12-round bout with Joshua.
