In a hard-fought battle at Wembley Arena, Scotney outworked the former champion, Cherneka Johnson, over ten rounds to claim her world championship glory. The Matchroom CEO recently met with Scotney and her renowned trainer Shane McGuain. Hearn took to his Instagram account to share a picture of the jubilant trio, capturing the essence of their successful partnership and their shared aspirations for the future.

“Catching up with world champ @Elliescotney and @Shanemcguain this morning,” he wrote sharing the picture.


Although there has been a lot of controversy surrounding McGuain and his treatment of Chantelle Cameron, it hasn’t stopped Hearn from meeting them. The picture also symbolizes the beginning of a promising chapter in Scotney’s journey as a world champion and a prominent figure in the ongoing transformation of women’s boxing. During their encounter, it is likely that Hearn, Scotney, and McGuain engaged in discussions about the future of Ellie’s career. Moreover, Hearn has now revealed interest in making her the undisputed champion of the division.

Eddie Hearn eyes a title unification bout for the newly crowned champion

Having claimed the IBF super bantamweight title, Scotney is now poised for unification bouts against other world champions in the division. In an interview with Boxingscene.com Hearn revealed future potential bouts for Scotney.

This includes a showdown against current WBA titleholder, Mayerlin Rivas who also comes under the Matchroom Banner. Rivas, an exceptional fighter, presents a formidable challenge for Scotney.

 “We don’t have to worry about a rematch so we are looking at unifications straight away,”  Hearn said.

Beyond Rivas, other intriguing contenders in the super bantamweight division include WBC champion Yamileth Mercado and the WBO titleholder Segole Lefebvre. These potential matchups could provide further opportunities for Scotney to cement her legacy as one of the sport’s great champions.
