Misery continues to pile up on Conor McGregor. His world seemed to have turned upside down after a recent unfavorable trial court judgment, which now threatens to affect his business world, too. How? Eddie Hearn has floated clouds of uncertainty over their prolonged relationship, which could push the Irish fighter out of the boxing scene.
McGregor, 36, swayed the boxing fans with his antics near the ring. The fans fondly remember him helping Anthony Joshua chug a glass of his Forged Irish Stout after the latter knocked out Robert Helenius in August last year. He has graced many boxing events in the last few years.
Why so? The UFC star’s Forged Irish Stout has been sponsored at all these events as he continues to extend his sphere of influence in other sports. However, the association might soon come to an end.

In a conversation with the Pro Boxing Fans, Hearn, 45, specified his intention to review the information that he had received and then take an appropriate step accordingly. The British promoter explained, “Got to digest all the information which is coming out thick and fast, and obviously we have a responsibility to look at all our partnerships. We’ll do that over the immediate future and decide as a business what we’re going to do.”

If the two were to terminate their partnership, it could affect Matchroom Boxing’s events, and they might have to hunt for other sponsors. But it might be hard to replace ‘Notorious,’ who catches eyeballs where he goes. That’s why he had decided to sponsor Katie Taylor‘s first fight in Ireland when she took on Chantelle Cameron back in May 2023. What’s more? He actively promotes such fights too. It’s a hard decision for the British promoter, who had built a close bond with the former UFC champion.
Eddie Hearn and Conor McGregor: bond ‘forged’ in a pub
A year ago, the Matchroom Boxing lynchpin revealed how he crossed paths with the Irishman. The two met at a fight, and the bond only deepened with their business partnership. He told TNT Sports once, “First met Conor McGregor actually in Boston, at a Katie Taylor fight four or five years ago now, and recently linked up with Forged Irish Stout, one of his brands, at the Katie Taylor-Chantelle Cameron fight in Dublin. What a wild experience! Down his pub in Dublin. What a top man, what a character.”

In the same conversation, Hearn admitted to talking with McGregor about boxing almost every week. He also acknowledged how the Crumlin native supported most of his fighters. Interestingly, Hearn had recently asked him to dial him up if he ever wanted to box in a fighter. But it seems that might only end up a distant dream now.
