Matchroom Sport recently announced a three-year extension of their broadcast deal with OTT sports streaming giant, DAZN. Matchroom Boxing and its chairman, Eddie Hearn, have been at the pinnacle of boxing promotions. And went on to host some of the most iconic showdowns in recent boxing history. DAZN first partnered with Matchroom for its launch in the USA on October 2018.

As reported by Bad Left Hook, Hearn opened up about the extension, saying, “I am delighted to announce this extension to our deal with DAZN in the US and Mexico. DAZN’s schedule is, without doubt, the best in the sport. And our big nights in the States and all-action cards in Mexico are a massive part of that.”

The promotion is all set to showcase Canelo Alvarez‘s Cinco de Mayo showdown against John Ryder. Boxer turned promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, on the other hand, was not too pleased with this matchup. De La Hoya even went on to state that Alvarez was ‘regressing’ as a fighter.

Hearn, however, was quick to hit back at De La Hoya for his statement, saying, “Oscar will say whatever suits him. I don’t think half the time he knows what he’s saying. But he will never speak honestly. I think he needs to look at some of his own matchmaking.”
