Eddie Hearn is one of the biggest and most successful promoters of the sport. The Englishman is famous for being a shrewd businessman and getting the best deal for all involved. He has shared a good relationship with SkySports for a long time and even created history by putting on an all-women’s card.

However, it appears as though the Matchroom promoter will start a new chapter, as he has now agreed to a record-breaking deal with streaming service DAZN.

Mike Coppinger from The Athletic was the first to break the news. They reported that Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing had agreed to a bumper new 5-year deal which would see most of the promotion’s boxers’ fights on the streaming service.

Per Coppinger, the deal would be worth nine figures and would come into effect on July 1. The deal will also mark the end of a decade-long relationship between Matchroom and SkySports.

This will be an enormous blow to the network. However, it is no surprise to see Matchroom sign with DAZN. Hearn has shared a good relationship with the streaming service in the past, and DAZN has slowly captured some of the biggest names in the sport. Hence, it was only a matter of time until this happened.

Will this new deal between Eddie Hearn and DAZN affect the Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury fight?

Given the money that Matchroom will earn from the deal, it is clear to see why Eddie Hearn agreed to the contract. However, what are the terms of the agreement, and how will it affect the Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury fight?

The deal comes into effect on July 1, which means Hearn will still put on two more shows on SkySports. However, the agreement excludes big names like Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte. This means the new deal with DAZN will not affect the Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua bout.

If these fighters are to appear on the network, it would be a separate deal altogether. Therefore, it will not affect the big names in the sport. However, fans in the UK and Ireland will now have to subscribe to DAZN to watch their favorite fighters in action, rather than a Sky subscription.
