He is the pride of Mexico, and recently another Mexican boxer is trying to grab the attention of Alvarez. David Benavidez has been challenging Alvarez for a fight for a while now.

Alvarez has previously stated his thoughts about the fight against Benavidez in an interview. It seems he now has sent a clear message to David Benavidez through his promoter, Eddie Hearn. Hearn, in a recent interview with Fight Hub TV, gave advice to Benavidez regarding his wish to fight Alvarez.

Mexican boxer Canelo Alvarez could fight David Benavidez next year if he defeats Caleb Plant in their upcoming fight, according to Eddie Hearn, Canelo’s promoter. Hearn said that Canelo wants to have two fights this year, one against John Ryder on May 6 and the rematch against Dmitry Bivol. Therefore, it is unlikely that Canelo will have a third fight this year. He claimed that Benavidez has to earn his fight, “You kinda have to earn your fight in some way, you have to have a belt, you have to have a big win.

Hearn also mentioned that the rematch against Bivol in September is expected to be a tough one, making it difficult for a quick turnaround to face Benavidez in December. However, he stated that there is no reason why Canelo would not fight Benavidez if he beats Plant.

Hearn added that Canelo is always going to want the right deal because he is a businessman as well as a fighter. “And I think Saul acknowledges that victory over Caleb Plant, would give him chatting rights to say… Me!“, Hearn said. Canelo’s instruction to Hearn is to fight Ryder first and then avenge his defeat against Bivol. He even stated that before even considering the Benavidez fight, he definitely wants to cross the major hurdle of Bivol. There is no information about what Canelo will do if he loses to Bivol in September.

What does David Benavidez want for his future?

David Benavidez, interim WBC super middleweight champion, has warned that he will push for a fight with Canelo Alvarez if he defeats Caleb Plant in their upcoming fight on March 25th.

Benavidez has been Canelo’s WBC mandatory for two fights, yet the WBC have not yet arranged the fight. To prove that he is the best in the division, Benavidez wants to fight Canelo, but he is willing to go through the WBC route.

If Benavidez sits back and waits, he might never get the opportunity to fight Canelo before he retires. Benavidez has also been working on his defensive skills in preparation for his fight with Plant, who he aims to knock out. He said he has been training hard, working on his stamina, and pushing himself to get the victory. It will definitely be a treat for the fans to see both legends battle it out in the ring to prove which one amongst them is the best. What do you make of Hearn’s comments?
