Who’s next for Jake Paul? It is a question that has been plaguing the boxing world for a few weeks now. A blockbuster clash against Canelo Alvarez seemed locked in until it wasn’t. As Cinnamon did a 180, signing a 4-fight deal with Riyadh Season, it left The Problem Child high and dry. He rallied back, setting his sights on Gervonta Davis. However, with Tank occupied with Lamont Roach now, that matchup is also stalled.
However, the wheels are still turning. With MVP revealing a two-fight plan for El Gallo in 2025, something is indeed in the works. And it seems like we are going to get an announcement soon. After weeks of silence, Jake Paul finally opened up about his future while taking a sneaky dig at Canelo Alvarez.

Jake Paul’s got a secret
Fight Hub TV was able to get hold of Jake Paul following the Katie Taylor–Amanda Serrano Kick-Off Press Conference. While the interview primarily focused on the first-ever all-women boxing PPV, the interviewers were curious about the 28-year-old’s future plans. One interviewer probed, “The Canelo fight fell through at the last minute. What’s next for you? What do you want next?” Jake Paul could do nothing but crack a smile.

He assured everyone that there was no shortage of potential opponents on his radar. However, he didn’t hide his frustration with how some boxers operate. “But it’s funny like I’ve said this before in boxing and it holds true what boxers don’t like boxing. They don’t want to sign the contract so we’ll see what happens,” he said. It was indeed a dig at Canelo Alvarez, who agreed on a deal with Jake Paul before changing his mind.
Still, the Ohio native isn’t letting setbacks slow him down. He is back in the gym, training, hinting that the next fight is nearly locked in. However, this time he is keeping it close to the chest. “We do have an announcement next week but I’m just not going to leak anything. We’ve had these fights pulled twice now at the one-yard line. Canelo, Gervonta, so I’m just not going to jinx it and say anything,” he concluded.

While Paul seems optimistic about his upcoming plans, he sounded less hopeful about facing Gervonta Davis anytime soon, which according to the 28-year-old, was tantalizingly close to being finalized, until an unexpected twist derailed it.

Gervonta Davis’ fight still possible
During the interview, Kevin Garcia from Fight Hype asked, “The last time I saw you personally was in Brooklyn at the Barclays Center, and there was a lot going on that night. I’ve got to ask you, how real or what was it with you and Tank actually being a thing? Was that something that was talked about?”
In a surprising turn of events, Jake Paul revealed, “It was highly talked about and in negotiations.” He even admitted that the fight was, “almost ready to make happen.” However, as Lamont Roach‘s rematch takes priority now, those plans are on hold. Surprisingly, The Problem Child is ready to wait out.
“But he has to do his rematch with Lamont and get that W, and then we’ll be able to run it back, but me and Gervonta were scheduled to fight for sure,” he stated. Given that MVP holds Davis in high regard and considers him “the only American pay-per-view box office star,” other than Jake Paul, waiting makes sense.
