Former Welterweight world champion Yordenis Ugas has come put in support of soccer stars Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo. Neymar’s Brazil lost to Croatia in penalties despite the Brazilian giving his country the lead in extra time. Ronaldo’s Portugal on the other hand was upset by Morocco as they beat the 2016 European champions 1-0.

For years Neymar and Ronaldo have been at the top of the soccer world but have never won a world cup. However, with this World Cup being Ronaldo’s last it was a devastating loss that saw him shed tears of grief after being knocked out. The same happened with Neymar who was also devastated after his country lost.

However, it seemed that Ugas related to the soccer stars as he gave a heartfelt message about what it is like to lose on the biggest stage.

Yordenis Ugas pens an emotional message

The former champion took to Twitter and stated that he felt bad the first time he saw these images. He then went on to refute the stigma of men never crying claiming he just saw two of the best athletes in the world shed tears of frustration and anger.

The first time I saw these images I felt bad because they say “Men Don’t Cry” but I have seen yesterday and today 2 of the greatest athletes in the world cry. They are tears of frustration, for feeling that you failed your family, your team, your country, and in my case, my community.” he wrote.

He also posted a video of him being consoled by his wife after he lost his title to Eroll Spence Jr. “Don’t Cry, Relax Honey Nobody Died” she said. This was not all as Ugas also had a message for the two soccer superstars after their losses.

Ugas backs Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo

In another tweet, Ugas claimed that he respected both Ronaldo and Neymar. Moreover, he added that crying was not something that ‘cowards’ resort to but a way for the brave to express their emotions.

Like many champions, Ugas has seen the highest of highs as well as the lowest of lows. Therefore he knows what it felt like losing on the biggest stage and could relate to the pain Ronaldo and Neymar were going through.
