It has been some time since the boxing world is craving for Canelo Alvarez vs. David Benavidez. After Benavidez defeated Caleb Plant in their last fight, the former declared that he deserved “a shot” against Canelo Alvarez. However, according to Benavidez, Alvarez is not trying to avoid ‘Red Flag’ but is simply occupied with “a lot of options” on his plate. To conclude, Benavidez suggested a potential bout with the undisputed-super-Middleweight champion in September this year. “That’s what everybody wants to see in September,” the 27-year-old said.
Contrary to Benavidez’s expectations, team Alvarez responded to Jermell Charlo‘s call and booked a date for September 30th. Anyway, a number of fans still believed that Alvarez would probably face Benavidez after the bout against Jermell Charlo in Las Vegas. However, in a recent interaction with the media, Eddy Reynoso, the former’s trainer, reportedly declared that the Mexican fighter would face Jermall Charlo next in boxing.

On the other hand, one felt it was “weird” of Alvarez to not face Benavidez yet.
Unreal when you got david who's WBC interim champ, undefeated and in his prime. Canelo moving very weird when it comes to David

Likewise, one wrote, “Fighting big Charlo off that two-year layoff is nasty If Benavidez ain’t 3rd in this fight deal I have to confirm it as a duck.”
I defended Canelo not fighting Benavidez for a while because he fought Bivol (bigger risk/reward) … Fighting big Charlo off that two year layoff is nasty If Benavidez ain’t 3rd in this fight deal i have to confirm it as a 🦆🦆

According to one fan, not fighting Benavidez is technically “a 3-year layoff“.
Technically it’ll be a 3 year layoff.
