From the moment the bell rang, Anthony Joshua controlled the fight against Francis Ngannou. While Ngannou looked unsure, ‘AJ’ fought with an appropriate stance to maintain his distance and land his effective punches on ‘The Predator’. Soon, in the first round, as ‘The Predator’ shifted to the southpaw stance, Joshua fired a formidable right hand to knock down Ngannou.

Finally, immediately after the second knockdown in the second round, Joshua landed a powerful cross on Ngannou’s chin to win via KO. In this context, physiatrist Brian Sutterer uploaded a video explaining Joshua’s KO victory over Ngannou in Riyadh. Here is what Sutterer observed in the fight.

According to Brian Sutterer, Francis Ngannou was already concussed after being knocked down twice. Of course, one could see how ‘The Predator’ struggled to get up after the first knockdown. Honestly speaking, had there been sufficient time, he would not have gone past the first round itself. Anyway, after the second knockdown, Ngannou was completely lost. Therefore, explaining the situation, Sutterer said, “The final knockout punch was because Ngannou was already essentially concussed.” He went on.

Whenever you have a concussion, one of the symptoms you can display is decreased reaction time. This is just a purely delayed reaction time from Ngannou being unable to get his left up in time to block that straight punch coming through from Joshua,” added Sutterer. By the by, he explained that the “mechanical force” applied to Ngannou’s brain resulted in a “massive depolarization” which caused Ngannou “to go unconscious“.

Meanwhile, in a startling announcement, Ngannou claimed he did not feel the punch Joshua knocked him out with.
