Will the presidential gift motivate Bivol to come back stronger in his rematch with Beterbiev?

After suffering his first career defeat against Artur Beterbiev last month, Dmitry Bivol has maintained his silence. The 23-1 boxer kept his head down, accepted the defeat, and got back to his training, waiting for his rematch against the undisputed light heavyweight champion to redeem himself.

The Kyrgyzstan-born boxer pushed Beterbiev to his limit and became the first boxer to survive all 12 rounds with the latter. While Bivol might have lost the match, it was a sensational fight that won the hearts of every boxing fan. It looks like Dmitry Bivol’s efforts also won over Kyrgyzstan’s president, as he gifted the boxer a beautiful gift that he will cherish for a long time.

A royal gift

President’s son Rustam Japarov delivered the gift as the boxer revealed it in his Instagram story. Rustam stated, “From the heart to my brother, the champion, from our Sadyr Nurgozhoevich,” while delivering the keys to Dmitry Bivol. It looked like there were several people present during this as they applauded the gesture.

Rustam then went on to give Dmitry Bivol a tour of the car. It looks like the 23-1 boxer is enjoying his gift as he posted a video of himself inside the car trying to soak in the experience. He then looked at the camera with a big smile on his face, indicating how much he loved the car.

While both Beterbiev and Bivol are ready for a rematch, it looks like they will have to wait for the match. Both boxers have showcased their desire for the rematch and with the backing of His Excellency, Turki Alalshikh, this rematch is inevitable.

However, there is one glaring problem. The Riyadh Season will end in February and with HE Turki Alalshikh wanting to host the fight himself, we might not see this under any other banner. This means we might have to wait till next October, when the Riyadh Season officially begins, to see this clash.

Top Rank head honcho Bob Arum has also confirmed that His Excellency won’t host any fights out of Riyadh or on any other dates. According to him, “There was a lot of pushback on His Excellency for doing fights outside of Saudi Arabia and outside of Riyadh Season.” So the fight between Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev will have to wait at least till October.

Arum also revealed that both these fighters will have to take on another opponent between that. While he name-dropped Germany’s Michael Eifert as a potential opponent for Beterbiev, Eddie Hearn has revealed no such information regarding Bivol’s next fight.

With that being said, it doesn’t look like Dmitry Bivol is that much worried about his next match. Just like always, he is silent and will prove his worth inside the ring. What do you think about the President’s gift to Bivol? Let us know your thoughts down below.
