Following the victory against Canelo Alvarez in May last year, Dmitry Bivol and his manager Vadim Kornilov entertained the idea of rematching Alvarez in super-middleweight. While Alvarez branded the rematch with Bivol as a fight of top priority, the latter’s manager recently reiterated the statements made by Bivol right after the Russian upset Alvarez in the ring.

According to Kornilov, Bivol might possibly agree to fight Alvarez in September 2023. However, there are terms that the Mexican boxer needs to strictly satisfy in order to face Bivol for the second time in boxing. As per Kornilov’s declaration, Bivol requires a solid motivating factor to once again face Canelo in the ring.

Since Bivol already beat Canelo in boxing, Kornilov struggled to find a reason for the Russian to face the former light-heavyweight champion of the world for the second time. In his opinion, Alvarez is no longer an exciting bout for the Russian boxer. “To be honest, I don’t really understand why Bivol would want to do it. I mean Bivol already beat him. He’s not as motivated [as before]. It’s not really that big of a challenge,” declared Bivol’s manager Kornilov in an interview with Little Giant Boxing.

However, Kornilov spoke about “certain terms” they were asking for and thus simultaneously kept the prospect of Bivol vs. Alvarez II alive. “One of those terms right now is Bivol wants to fight him at 168,” he declared saying. “It’s enticing for him to put all the titles on the line,” he added.
