Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. And former WBA and IBO light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol is finding that out the hard way, as his ex-wife has come out publicly, yet again, in support of his upcoming opponent. The Russian juggernaut was married to his now ex-wife, Ekaterina Bivol for sixteen years before the couple found their relationship on the rocks starting in 2022. According to Ekaterina, the Russian boxer changed as a person after beating Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in a shocking upset in May 2022.

Ekaterina alleges that they started drifting apart after that fight since Dmitry spent less and less time with her and their two kids, leaving her alone for months on end. This eventually led to them getting divorced in 2023. Dmitry has not spoken about this split publicly, so it is important to remember that we only have one side of the story. But what we do know for sure is that Ekaterina is still very upset and angry at her ex-husband.

You will remember her coming out publicly to support Artur Beterbiev ahead of his October 2024 clash with Dmitry. The Canelo-beater, of course, lost that fight via a controversial majority decision, and no one was happier than Ekaterina. Ahead of their upcoming rematch on Saturday at ‘The Last Crescendo’, Ekaterina has yet again thrown her weight behind the Quebec native. “My children and I are for Arthur!” she posted from her official Instagram account earlier this week.

Well, it is somewhat understandable that Ekaterina herself would want to support Beterbiev to spite Dmitry. But dragging their kids into it and claiming they are rooting against their father must have hurt Dmitry at least a little bit. But then again, that seems to be her aim. And fight fans are not happy with her conduct.

Unsurprisingly, most fight fans did not enjoy seeing Ekaterina air her dirty laundry with Dmitry in public. One fan perfectly encapsulated this sentiment as they simply declared: “That’s wrong what she is doing” Even most Artur Beterbiev fans were not on board with Ekaterina supporting him and felt this was not the correct thing for her to do: “This is unprofessional yes I want my brother ATHUR to win but using this tactic is out of order. If it is Dmitry ex stay out of his life.”

Another fan, however, believed that if Ekaterina indeed hated Dmitry, she should perhaps change her last name from Bivol: “Why does she still keeping his name on her profile?” As we have already discussed, Ekaterina had supported Beterbiev the last time around too, and one fan, who seemingly couldn’t believe how much contempt she had for Dmitry, simply asked: “Again?”

Another fan took a different view of this matter, and felt that Ekaterina was just mad over losing Bivol after their divorce: “Sore loser”.
