Do you think Ryan Garcia's comments warrant a ban, or is the WBC overreacting?

Ryan Garcia is in a pool of trouble and has only himself to blame. After controversial comments by the boxer on X, the president of the WBC, Mauricio Sulaiman, in his power, declared he was debarring Garcia from activities carried out by the WBC. On that note, hurrying to social media, Garcia’s parents highlighted that ‘KingRy’ needed necessary help.

After his victory against Devin Haney, who had converted to Islam, had been changed to a no-contest, Ryan Garcia was distraught with a stigma on his latest performance and a one-year ban. Now, to all appearances, fulminating against Haney’s race and religion, he made a racist and anti-Muslim statement on X which caught Mauricio Sulaiman’s notice. So, the WBC president had to condemn Garcia’s behavior on X.

Exercising his authority, Sulaiman announced he was “expelling Ryan Garcia from any activity with our organization” as they “reject any form of discrimination.” Following this statement by Sulaiman, Garcia’s family publicly announced that they dissented from Garcia’s views while the views themselves failed to aptly represent ‘KingRy’ and his upbringing: “Our family unequivocally does not support any statements he has made regarding race or religion – these do not reflect who Ryan truly is and how he was raised,” read the public statement published by Ryan Garcia’s family.

In this context, it is worth mentioning that in his latest interview with Fight Hub TV, Ryan Garcia’s father revealed that his son was going through a lot.

While his B-sample tested positive for Ostarine, Ryan Garcia argued he had probably consumed a tainted supplement. Claiming he did not cheat, Garcia argued he was innocent. However, Garcia’s legal team could not protect the boxer from the ban imposed by the NYSAC. At this, Garcia’s father, Henry Garcia, told Fight Hub TV that his son had confessed he was feeling “bummed out with “everyone attacking him.” And although he understood Garcia was only 25, Henry showed concern for his son’s drinking habit.

In his opinion, Garcia should be taking it easy with his alcohol consumption. Who knows if drinking had anything to do with Garcia’s failed drug test? “I would love for him to get some type of therapy when it comes to his drinking,” said Henry Garcia. “He will call me when he needs me,” he added.
