Jake Paul can hold a grudge for a very long time. The 28-year-old has been at odds with the likes of KSI, Conor McGregor, and Tommy Fury, all within just five years of going pro. So, how did Floyd Mayweather figure that he would stroll away unscratched after mocking the biggest achievement of Jake Paul’s career?
Last night, the former five-division champion sat down with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, and shots were fired against the YouTuber-turned-boxer’s fight against Mike Tyson in November 2024. Money Mayweather discredited the fight as nothing serious, claiming that it only earned views because it was free on Netflix. As expected, Jake Paul didn’t take it all too well. He fired back immediately. In a scathing retort on X, he labeled Floyd Mayweather a “bum” and promised to knock him out if the two ever face each other. However, The Problem Child was not done as he dished out another jab against Mayweather, this time discrediting the multi-million dollar empire.

Jake Paul shows off his success
As soon as Floyd Mayweather’s clip from The Tonight Show went viral, Sports Business Journal took to their ‘X’ to reveal the astounding number their November 15 bout did. SBJ revealed, “Netflix’s Tyson-Paul showdown was not only one of its most-watched sports programs of all time — it actually ranked seventh among ALL of the streaming platform’s content during the second half of 2024.” The trade publication even attached a link to a detailed article by their managing editor, Austin Karp, for a detailed analysis of the numbers accumulated by the fight.
It was perfect timing as Jake Paul reposted the tweet with a screengrab from the article. The screengrab revealed that the boxing fight streaming numbers were on par with Netflix’s biggest show. Furthermore, it also surpassed the total viewing that NFL Christmas Day games garnered. That is an impressive feat, regardless of whether it was free or not.
But that wasn’t even the worst part. Jake Paul also took a sharp dig at Floyd Mayweather’s business empire while writing, “I would be mad as well…you spend billions & you can’t come close.” It was an indirect jab at Floyd Mayweather, who has been investing heavily in his real estate business recently.

The 28-year-old dared the PPV King to prove that he could still draw a massive audience. Echoing his past claims, Paul believes that these numbers can’t be achieved without him. Even if the 48-year-old keeps adding to his massive $450 million net worth.

Floyd Mayweather’s empire pulled into question
The ‘El Gallo’ claimed that despite having the two biggest PPVs in combat history, Money Mayweather could never match his modern numbers. The 65 million peak streams on Netflix’s 280 million subscriber base is a brag about relevance.
Jake Paul knows that Mayweather earned far more because of the PPV revenue. However, he is arguing that his audience pull is untouchable, and despite Floyd Mayweather having a net worth of nearly $450 million, and even though he nearly earned $300 million in his last few fights, the fact that more than 100 million people viewed his Mike Tyson fight live speaks volumes. Add to that more than 72,000 people who came to AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, to watch it in person, and you have a figure with a massive crowd pull.

It seems Floyd Mayweather might have stirred up trouble he didn’t need to. He could have taken the high road and ignored Jake Paul completely as the latter thrives on attention. Instead, by engaging, the former world champion has fed oxygen to this growing feud. The next few weeks might feature a flurry of jabs between the duo. Which is likely to keep the fans entertained and excited.
