YouTuber turned boxing sensation, Jake Paul, is gearing up for the fight he has been long yearning for. He will fight his longtime nemesis, Tommy Fury, at the Diriyah Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on February 26, 2023. Paul had his doubts about the fight happening, especially after it failed to take place in 2021 and 2022. But the fight announcement has gotten both the boxing fraternity and Paul himself excited. Additionally, it looks like WBC’s latest announcement has given Paul more reasons to win the fight.

WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman announced that Paul will be awarded a cruiserweight world title if he wins the fight. Talking about the same, he said, “Jake Paul has been close to the WBC for several years. Starting with the first event promoted in the UK.”

Moreover, he further added, “Jake has dedication and respect to the sport. And the WBC will not tolerate discrimination against anyone. He deserves the opportunities that any other boxer has. He demonstrated punching power and improved skills as well as a solid chin.”

Sulaiman also mentioned that Fury poses a challenge to Paul. And also shed light on the fact that Paul signed up for VADA testing.

Fans react to Jake Paul potentially receiving the cruiserweight title

A lot of fans were not in agreement with the decision to award Paul the cruiserweight for winning the fight. And they even felt that there were a lot more deserving boxers. In fact, many fans took to social media to share their thoughts about the same.

A user felt that Paul deserves the title. Moreover, he mentioned that Paul has proven that he is ‘the real deal’.

Meanwhile, a few users shed light on the WBC not sanctioning Russian and Belarusian fighters.

Some fans felt that the WBC wants Paul because he was a crowd-puller.

However, a user felt that the WBC was discriminating against ‘real fighters’. And also mentioned that Paul getting a ‘gifted title’.
