Prior to Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk, fans were expecting to see a Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua square off this year. ‘The Gypsy King’ had even offered a 60/40 split to Joshua for the fight. However, Joshua, who now comes from back-to-back losses against Usyk, lacks the preparation to battle Fury before the present year came to an end. Recently, Bob Arum, the CEO of Top Rank boxing, expressed that Joshua vs. Fury would not happen next.

The news was tweeted by TalkSport correspondent Michael Benson. The following is what he reported on Twitter: Bob Arum has told reporters he does not expect Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua to happen next as he believes AJ’s team won’t want it. He said they’re talking to other alternatives for Fury to face in the UK this year before an Oleksandr Usyk fight in the first three months of 2023.”

Looks like fans who expected a Fury vs. ‘AJ’ fight would have to wait some time while Fury fight others. Tyson Fury announced his retirement after he fought former training partner Dillian Whyte. ‘The Gypsy King’ hung up his gloves and said he would not return to fight. However, as soon as Usyk beat Joshua, Fury changed his mind.

Lately, Fury had called out Anthony Joshua for a ‘Battle of Britain’ world title fight. In fact, Joshua had even responded saying he would be ready to take the fight in December. Here is what Tyson Fury had said, “Anthony Joshua, I know you’ve just lost a fight to Usyk and you’re bout-less at the moment, and I’d like to give you an opportunity to fight me for the WBC heavyweight championship of the world and the lineal championship in the next few months. If you’re [Joshua] interested I’ll send you the date over and we can rumble.”

Taking to Instagram, Joshua responded to Fury. He had said, “I don’t do online discussions just for clout. So if you’re really about it, shout @258mgt [Joshua’s management company.] I’ll be ready in December.”
