“Weirdest.” Ben Davis called it as he saw it. And he wasn’t alone. Deji Olatunji‘s knockout of Dawood Savage left many with short words to describe what transpired between them. While the British boxer was willing to leave it behind and make a fresh and strong start, even his brother, KSI, mocked him with a hilarious response.

The British YouTuber took on Dawood Savage on Misfits’s Boxing X Series 19 show in Qatar on Thursday night. Their fight proved to be lackluster, where Savage was pushing and landing more on him in the initial rounds of a four, two-minute encounter. However, in the third round, Deji caught him a left and dropped him, with that not ruled as a knockout. But when Dawood Savage tried to exchange immediately after it, he forced a clinch and soon took a tumble. Making it a third-round KO win for the 27-year-old British fighter.

KSI pulling Deji’s leg

Deji turned to his Instagram handle and expressed his desire to make amends in his next fight. He wrote, “Today was a wake up call to start taking boxing more serious. Even though I won, I’m not happy with my performance! I’ll be back, and better then ever.”

While Deji was contemplating how to carve out a better version of himself, KSI saw this as a perfect opportunity to poke fun at him. He shared the same post on his Instagram story and wrote in the caption, “Bro says this everything. Were bored now.”

Interestingly, KSI soon deleted the story and shared another take on the same, with some mellowed words this time. He penned, “It’s time to fight better opponents. No more warm up fights.” Notably, Deji was coming off an 18-month layoff, which seemed to have affected his performance. But he was willing to take the onus on himself for his dismal performance.

Deji: reflecting on his loss

Deji, in a conversation with DAZN, admitted how he believed he could have taken out Dawood Savage in the first round. The latter had failed to rack up a single win in any of his previous fights. He said, “I’ll be honest, I’m disappointed with my performance. I know my levels, and I should have taken him out in the first round. I’ve got no excuses, and I’m very disappointed.”

This fight leaves Deji at a crossroads, as he also has to now make strict calls about his training regimen. He came in 10 lbs heavier than his opponent, and his weight issues made the fight a catchweight showdown. In addition, many fans criticized him for his busted shape. So, the time is high for him to make some changes.
