The world of boxing is no stranger to controversies and tussles. However, the tussles are usually confined between fighters and competitors. In a recent turn of events, two big-name promoters have taken digs at each other; Eddie Hearn and Don King exchanged a few hostile words over the years. The two promoters are from different eras of boxing but share a lot in common. Both of them are polarising and have been a part of many iconic bouts.
Although King was a prolific promoter, many of his fighters left him with legal battles and accused him of financial exploitation. King, 91, does not hold as much influence as he did a few decades back. Reflecting on the same, Hearn made some comments that did not sit well with King who was quick to repudiate.

Don King is interested to make a return to the sport and wants to partner up with Hearn for bouts. However, as per Mirror, Hearn had been calling King a “Dinosaur” as a reference to not being relevant in the boxing sphere. Despite these comments, King is interested to work with Hearn but had a comeback for his “Dinosaur” comment. King told Mirror fighting, “Certainly, I would work with Eddie Hearn today,” he added, “Eddie Hearn’s a nice guy, he’s still young and we have philosophical differences, he said me and Bob are dinosaurs but guess what? The dinosaurs were here first.”
Although the Cleveland born boxing promoter has expressed his interest, Hearn has not been vocal about working with King. However, this has not been the first instance King spoke of Hearn. In the past, he had felt sorry for the British promoter and made a bold allegation against him.
Don King’s bold allegation against Eddie Hearn
Back in 2022, King gave an interview to IFL TV after a press conference and accused Hearn of being an incompetent promoter. He had also accused him of being the reason behind his fighters’ defeats. In the interview, he stated, “I feel sorry for Eddie Hearn because he’s taking everybody’s top quality guys. He’s being the master of losing money, but more importantly, he’s losing the reputation of the gladiator.”
