“It’s been really tough. Because I knew I was innocent.” Dillian Whyte summed up his frustration when asked about the whole failed drug test debacle. The last couple of years had been tough for him, as he not only lost the opportunity to meet Anthony Joshua in the middle of the ring but also went through emotional turmoil in the past year or so. The journey has been tumultuous, to say the least. While he has moved to better things and phases, he is looking back at a time when he went through “depression.”

Whyte, 36, had 16 months of inactivity and a failed drug test conundrum sandwiched between his loss to Tyson Fury and win against Christian Hammer this year. Now, he has been booked to fight Ebenezer Tetteh on December 15. While the British boxer is confident of his coming fight, he is also mindful of his troubled days when he quit boxing because of the then-ongoing investigation.

Whyte, at 30-3, confessed about his struggles in a conversation, as reported by DailyMail. He said, “Last two years have been dark and cold. It’s nothing I’m not used to. But it just hit me harder this time. I went through a lot of depression. I gave up boxing.”

The investigations revealed that the failed drug tests resulted from supplement contamination. It might remind fans of when Canelo Alvarez tested positive and the subsequent investigations disclosed contaminated meat as the culprit. But what about Whyte now?

Dillian Whyte and his grand plans for 2025

Whyte had a plan to fight twice this year after his victory over Hammer in March. ‘The Body Snatcher’ is only slated to fight Tetteh, but he is already looking for bigger fights next year. He expressed his desire to “get back into the big fights next year.” How about fighting against the likes of ‘AJ’ and Daniel Dubois?

Whyte continued, “I watched Dubois-AJ, and I think to myself, ‘I can beat these guys’. I’m very capable of beating them. I didn’t see anything special that I was like, ‘Okay, the feet was great or the movement was great’… So I’m just very motivated. I can’t wait to get back and get back into the big fights, man.”
