Amanda Serrano was able to break a fighter’s dream back in February by defeating Erika Cruz. The fighter from Puerto Rico walked out with the undisputed featherweight championship belts around her waist. The fight was known for its intense face-off and never-ending ferocity. Today it is getting the recognition that it deserves.
In the match that was held at Madison Square Garden, Serrano managed to overpower the Mexican fighter and managed to become the first undisputed champion of the four-belt era to come out of Puerto Rico. ‘The Real Deal’ has already defended her title against two other opponents since beating Cruz. She seems unstoppable right now with her form. However, her fight with Cruz recently was crowned as the female fight of the year, gaining mass recognition and praise.

In a post made by Serrano on social media platform X, she went on to show her gratitude to Cruz for sharing the ring with her. Serrano explained how they did what they had to do, fight. Talking of the match that had more than 1900 punches thrown in it, she said, “We went out there & did what we said we were coming to do & that was to Fight! For this one we both made our countries proud. After 1900+ punches in a 10×2 fight, it didn’t matter the decision.”

Serrano proceeded to explain how they had to prove to the world that they belonged on the big stage. They definitely succeeded in doing that. The bout was particularly gory. Cruz was profusely bleeding from her forehead and nose but showed no signs of stopping. The defense was barely present as both fighters were constantly on the offense, trading fists at each other. In the end, Serrano managed to grab the win barely, winning by a unanimous decision.
In the Tweet, Serrano went on the thank Cruz saying, “I am so proud of her & thankful to her for sharing that night with me, because of her heart she today is a 2 Division World Champion…Enjoy Campeona you deserve it all.” All of this is proof that the fighters still have great respect for each other.
