Hollywood actor Sylvester Stallone has had a long history of playing challenging roles. The ‘Rocky’ star has appeared in several action flicks with him, portraying the role of a soldier more often than not in his blockbuster movies.

Moreover, his tenacity and conviction toward his roles have led many to ask the question of whether Stallone has ever served in the military. So let us take a look into Sly’s life outside the curtain and see if he was ever a part of the armed forces.

Despite his obvious talents, Stallone has never served in the military. This might be a little surprising for fans who thought Stallone might have served some time due to his near-perfect portrayal of military officials. However, like another boxing legend Muhammad Ali, Stallone didn’t list in the armed forces during the Vietnam war.

He was a college student in 1969, which made him eligible for the draft. However, he was diagnosed with partial paralysis in his face which would have removed him from the draft. Despite his shortcomings, Stallone was able to make a successful career out of acting.

A list of roles where Stallone has portrayed a military officer

Stallone has had countless movies under his belt many of which he played the role of a soldier. In his action franchise, The Expendables, he played the role of Barney Ross, a former U.S marine Corps. He has also played the role of a veteran officer John Rambo in his hit franchise Rambo. Moreover, in this franchise, the protagonist uses his veteran experience in the Vietnam war fighting corrupt officers and carrying out missions.

These were the major roles where ‘Sly’ portrayed a military officer. The majority of his versatility as an actor can be attributed to his dedication to any role presented to him.
