Mad World News shared some quirky news last Saturday. It was about a homeowner in California who went by the name of Sal Mercado, who apprehended a thief trying to get away with valuables from his home and battered him. In his words, he hammered the crook like how Mike Tyson pounded his foes inside the ring. Eventually, the police came and took away the burglar.

Since they came across the news, hordes of netizens joined to share their views. Most commended Mercado for taking timely action. A few couldn’t help but pick up the lighter side of the incident. Some believe what Mercado did was right, but whether the law will step in to hand over adequate punishment to the thief remains the looming question.

Mike Tyson KOs…sorry, homeowner KOs a thief

Since the homeowner, Sal Mercado, decided to go a full Mike Tyson; Jerry Creech wonders whether he chewed off the intruder’s ears too, like how ‘Iron’ Mike went about against Evander Holyfield during ‘The Bite Fight.’ He said, “Did he bite his ear off?” A few others decided to join the bandwagon. Gregg Gorman believes that instead of doing the Tyson thing, Mercado would as well have followed Clint Eastwood‘s character in the cult classic ‘Dirty Harry.’ According to him, the criminal still appears fine, “Should have gone Dirty Harry on him. He still looks too good!!

Best of all, Vicki Marie said that, thankfully, Mercado didn’t take over Keanu Reeves‘ John Wick avatar, “lucky he didn’t go john wick on him.” However, Richard VanGessel said Sal Mercado did a fine job delivering an admirable response to an intruder. So according to VanGessel, in a way, it was fair and square, “Looks like he did a good job justice served.

Then, David Nimmo finds it incredulous that Mercado stopped. He should have continued, “Why did he stop?” But at the other of the spectrum, Janet Vaccarello Gustafson seems satisfied that the story might have ended badly. But thankfully, Mercado survived to share his ordeal. She wishes that the law should now take over, “At least he’s alive to tell the story. It might not have ended well. Now let’s hope the criminal justice system does theirs.
