A fight that can solidify his status at the top of the sport. Whenever he’s neared a deal, something has played a role in derailing it. In the last few months, he has gone from a fight against Canelo Alvarez to Gervonta Davis to Tommy Fury and even KSI. However, as we can see, he is still without a dance partner.

However, it seems like The Problem Child has finally found his next opponent. In the last few weeks, whispers of a clash against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. were rampant. While nothing is certain, a viral video of the former world champion on the internet has convinced the fans that this fight could be real.

On the weekend, the prominent Instagram boxing account boxinggego1 dropped a video of Chavez Jr. in his home gym. The video captured the 39-year-old riding an air cycle with mouth tape to boost his breathing and stamina. While the video was nothing special, it was the caption that captured everyone’s attention. The caption read, “Is Julio Cesar Chavez Jr fighting Jake Paul? And what’s up with his mouth? PAUSE ⏸️ lol,” sending a wave of curiosity amongst fans.

The curiosity increased when Jake Paul himself posted a video of him training alongside Amanda Serrano. For Serrano, that intense training makes sense as her third bout against Katie Taylor is right around the corner. However, El Gallo’s intense session? That’s got fans raising eyebrows, hinting he might have a fight lined up.

The fans wasted no time in connecting the dots or spinning their own tales as they lambasted Jake Paul on eyeing another fight against another out-of-action fighter.

A fan commented on the video, “How many retired fighter’s will take fight get someone that’s hot right now and fight them Jake is cherry picking has been fighter’s.” Even though Chavez Jr. has not hung up his gloves officially yet and had a 6 round fight in 2024, it’s a fair jab. The Mexican has not competed in a full 12-round fight since 2019 and has lost 6 out of his last 10 fights. Making him a rather underwhelming prospect for a pay that Jake Paul is targeting.

Another fan, chimed in to explain the mouth tape. “It’s a breathing device. Hopefully no drug testing and JCC cycles!” he wrote. And even though he is not in favor of Chavez Jr. picking this fight, ” If he stops Jake Paul I’ll forgive him for everything,” he added.

Another fan wrote, “Jake Paul by stoppage 😂,” predicting that it will be another typical Jake Paul fight where he will be victorious. The skepticism regarding the bout echoed elsewhere, with one fan scoffing,“😂😂😂 he needs to stop embarrassing his dad,” claiming that the Mexican is ruining his family’s illustrious legacy by accepting this fight.

It seems like everyone is feeling similarly another fan commented with just “😂😂😂,” emojis to mock the fight. What’s wild is that neither Jake Paul nor Chavez Jr. has officially confirmed anything. Maybe, they are fighting, maybe they are not and are preparing for another event.
