With barely a fortnight left for the Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney face-off, the pay-per-view details have been released for fans’ purview. From the goings-on, not all seem too enthused. Especially the downright price difference between those who want to view it in the United States and those living in the United Kingdom has sparked off a lively debate on social media.
‘KingRy’ and ‘The Dream’ headline the event in New York’s Barclays Center on Saturday, April 20. They will fight for the WBC light welterweight belt that Haney currently holds. According to available reports, the price of PPV in the US is said to be around $79.99. At the same time, buyers in the UK need to shell out £19.99. Per the current currency exchange rates (1 GBP = 1.27 USD), that comes out to roughly $25.29.
talkSPORT‘s Michael Benson shared, “Devin Haney vs. Ryan Garcia on April 20th will be shown live on DAZN PPV in the UK, price £19.99.” On its website, ‘ppv.com’, PPV lists $79.99 plus applicable taxes and a service fee for Haney versus Garcia. However, on DAZN’s website, the price tag for the United States of America is mentioned as $69.99. Explaining the difference, another report mentions that the $80 price tag could be for the new DAZN subscribers. The existing customers, in the meantime, may enjoy the bout by paying $10 less, i.e., $69.99.

Apart from Haney and Garcia’s title fight, fans will see a few other undercard line-ups. The details are now available separately. The much-vaunted fight between the two stars of boxing follows months of discussions and talks. At one point, it even faltered. Thankfully, the second attempt survived the day. Over several obstacles, the fight has now reached its concluding stretch.
Anyhow, as far as PPV pricing is concerned, not many sounded happy.
Devin Haney versus Ryan Garcia: To See or Not to See
A user even pointed out that Gervonta Davis (now Abdul Wahid) and Ryan Garcia’s fight last year came free as part of the UK DAZN subscription.
This user teased that in the future, it will make a lot more sense to visit the United Kingdom and watch a PPV fight there.
Pretty soon it'll be cheaper to fly to the UK and stay at a hotel just to stream the fight at their price 😂

The next follower seems wonderstruck by the nearly $20 price in the UK. They believe probably the ones responsible are at their wits’ end for scaling down the price so steeply. Either way, the follower stated that they were not going to purchase it.
Damn only $20 bucks? They’re desperate. I’m still not buying it tho

The following user wonders why, compared to other nations, almost everything is so expensive in the UK. So despite that, how come pay-per-view has such a reduced price of £20?
I still don’t understand how everything including cost of living is so expensive in the UK compared to other countries but somehow they always have £20 ppvs

According to this follower, viewers in the United States are being ripped off their hard-earned money. Perhaps that could be the reason why so many are watching it for free on ‘Firestick’, they said.
Damn they really robbing Americans at this point, that’s why we all watching it for free on the firestick 🤣

Then, finally, this user lambasted DAZN for having become the butt of jokes across the boxing world.

The fight between Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia may not be up to the level where Tank versus Garcia stood. However, it still remains one of the biggest bouts of the year. Coupled with the two stars’ profiles, the intriguing undercard should be enough to draw in a considerable crowd.
However, given the prices mentioned, there are chances a few might turn away. As it is slated for the United Kingdom, fans in the United States might wish to see the fight at a discounted rate. Asking someone in America to dole out an amount four times the one in England might be an unreasonable expectation.
