The animosity between Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney is no secret! Ahead of their WBC title clash on April 20 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, the pair have been clashing heads every opportunity they get. However, the verbal jabs between them reached a fever pitch after last night’s press conference at Palladium Times Square in New York.

The undefeated ‘The Dream’ Haney claimed ‘King Ry’ had made zero progress since their amateur days. The duo fought each other six times before their explosive entry into the professional scene. Both Haney and Garcia won three fights each, but during an interview with Fight Hype last night, Devin Haney scoffed at the idea that Ryan has a chance against him.

Devin Haney is confident on how to beat Garcia

Speaking to ‘The Dream,’ the reporter queried whether he had a game plan for Ryan since they fought in amateurs. In response, Haney stated, “Ryan has not changed since the amateur. He’s been fighting the same way. Of course, he got bigger, stronger. But he’s just…if you look at his amateur fights, old amateur fights, he’s doing the same thing.”

Having experienced Garcia’s capabilities, Haney claimed, “So, I know how to beat Ryan.” He then doubled down on his claim while highlighting their first and last encounter in the ring. “Even though our first fight was when we [were] at 10 years old, our last fight was when we were like 16. He hasn’t really changed much,” said Haney.

While Haney didn’t miss the opportunity to throw shade at Garcia, the latter wasn’t far behind either.

During the press conference last night, Eddie Hearn, as one would expect, came in support of his boxer Devin Haney. He stated, “I think he might be unbeatable. He might be one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the sport. When you’re as dedicated as he is, and when you do things right…”

However, this did not sit well with Garcia, who had brought in a throne to sit on for the conference. So, he interrupted Hearn, claiming the statement was a blatant lie. “Come on Eddie, stop lying. That’s a crazy statement dude. Anybody is beatable, that’s cap, and I like you. You don’t have to lie, that was a lie.”

The April 20 fight will be a tie-breaker between Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney to reveal who the better fighter really is.
